President Donald Trump is a fan of his native city, New York. Before moving into the White House, reports circulated that said Trump had hopes of making the Big Apple his “home away from home” while he was in office. While those plans were (thankfully) dashed, the first lady Melania Trump will be sticking around the city with their son, Barron.
Protecting Trump Tower, which is situated on one of the busiest streets in Manhattan, has already proven to be a logistical nightmare. Mayor Bill de Blasio estimates that the cost in overtime for police officers, additional security, not to mention traffic, is set to exceed $35 million, and that’s just from the period between November 8 and the inauguration. As Melania and Barron reside in Trump Tower, and Trump’s numerous buildings litter the city, security in New York is sure to be a hassle. Watch the video above for a breakdown of Trump’s New York security expenses, and then consider: Why don’t Trump and his family just make this easier for everyone and leave New York alone?
