Side Note

The year’s most emotional movie will be the live-action ‘Winnie the Pooh’

Did you want a live-action reboot of one of your favorite childhood cartoons? Maybe not. But did you need one? Absolutely. The second trailer for the upcoming Christopher Robin movie feels like getting your heart scooped out, on account of all of your favorite Winnie-the-Pooh characters appearing in the cottony flesh. The first trailer introduced the premise: a grown-up Christopher Robin, played by Ewan McGregor, reconnects with his childhood bear because his life is depressed.

The new one brings back all of his friends — Tigger, Piglet, et al — everyone looking a little frumpier and worse for the wear, but still charming and lovable. They go to London at some point? There’s a real Eeyore walking around, talking to children? Christopher Robin learns to love and live again? I don’t know if I’ve ever watched a movie trailer so hell-bent on making me cry over my laptop.
