Yesterday, Pitchfork executive editor Mark Richardson announced his impending departure from the site, where he’s worked full-time for 11 years, and as a writer for nearly 20. The announcement was greeted with dozens of tributes across social media praising his tenure at the influential music site, during which Pitchfork transformed from a cool kid almanac to a Conde Nast-owned juggernaut. (Full disclosure: I worked for Pitchfork for a few years, and offered one of those tributes.)

Last night, Richardson posted a Spotify playlist of his favorite songs across the last 11 years, many of which he wrote about for Pitchfork. Richardson played a not-insignificant role in shaping opinions about music during his time at Pitchfork, and the playlist is a snapshot of what mattered the most: songs by Sleigh Bells, Sky Ferreira, Soulja Boy, Vampire Weekend, Girls, Burial, the XX, Kendrick Lamar, Deerhunter, and many, many more. As something for the historical record, it’s great; as a listening experience, it’s even better.
