Sex in the City (Season 1)

\n

I could never really get into this show before this week, but all of a sudden a switch flipped in my brain and I’m on full-on binge mode. I don’t know yet whether I’m a Carrie, Miranda, Meredith, or… sorry, I’m bad with names, but, I’m hoping I figure it out by Season 3. In the meantime, I’m enjoying this whole new world of memes I can now understand. — Ann-Derrick Gaillot

Paul Beatty - The White Boy Shuffle

\n

I devoured Paul Beatty’s debut novel, a razor-sharp farce about race and blackness centered on a slacker poet who becomes a basketball star and national messiah. It’s less narratively refined than The Sellout, which won the Man Booker a few years ago, but it’s so hysterical and trenchant that I imagine the people who were offended were probably busy picking their jaws off the floor. It was hailed as a “satire,” but it’s a lot closer to life than people might want to acknowledge. — Jeremy Gordon

Videos of people dancing to “Sicko Mode” by Travis Scott

\n

ASTROWORLD is an excellent album that I’ve had on repeat all week. There isn’t a video for this track featuring Drake and Swae Lee, but trained and amateur dancers with cameras have already gotten a hold of it. An “In My Feelings”-type dance craze hasn’t yet materialized, but it’s still nice to see people enjoying this song along with me. — Ann-Derrick Gaillot

The Veronicas - “Untouched”

\n

I discovered this song on an early version of Pandora, of all places, back in elementary school. The twin sister duo appealed to my preteen angst, and their short discography became weeks worth of listening material for me. Shortly after, they fell out of my mind and didn’t cross it again until I revisited their classic “Untouched” this week. Their wailing and waxing poetic about an obsessive love is a slap in the face, making romance still seem as beautifully tortuous and screamworthy as I thought it to be all those young years ago. — Melinda Fakuade
