Researchers at the University of Toronto trained a neural network — a computer system that can learn from repeated exposure to a stimulus — to compose music and write lyrics based on the content of an image.

This untitled song, based on a photo of a Christmas tree, is pure creepy delight, from the odd lyrics to the simple sing-song, mispronunciations of "lives," and abrupt ending.

The researchers have grand plans for their "neural karaoke" machine. Read about them at The Guardian.
