Side Note

The live-action Winnie the Pooh movie is very real, and has a trailer

The live-action Winnie the Pooh movie is not just a pitch dreamed up by a coked-out movie executive — it actually exists, and has its first teaser trailer, which just dropped a few minutes ago.

The movie features Ewan McGregor as the grown-up Christopher Robin, coming to terms with his station in life as a pencil-pushing hack who can’t spend time with his family due to his soulless job. That is, until a friendly voice pulls him out of his existential stupor, and reminds him of the things worth celebrating — or so I assume, given the way the teaser ends with Pooh’s somnolent, honied voice ready to dole out so many life lessons. Pooh looks a little more like Ted than expected, but there’s really only so many ways to put a cartoon bear in the real world. The voice is there, which is all that matters. If you ever had a Winnie the Pooh phase, like I did, just try to keep your shit together when Pooh’s head peeks out from over that bench, scored by a sappy — but effective — piano cue. The movie is “coming soon” to a theater near you.
