The movie “Hackers” is extremely my shit

Jeff Ihaza on his enduring love for the 90s cyberpunk classic.

When the 1995 cyberpunk thriller Hackers was first released in theaters, critics mocked it for being poorly acted and unrealistic. But when Outline staff writer Jeff Ihaza saw it for the first time as a kid, he was hooked, forever changed by its depiction of rave-era New York City. Hackers, which featured Angelina Jolie in her first lead role, follows a group of fashion-forward teens as they attempt to thwart a computer virus attack with the Secret Service on their heels. Watch the premiere episode of Extremely My Shit, a series where people dig deep into their love for that particular thing not everyone can understand.

Extremely My Shit gets to the heart of why we love things. For more videos, subscribe to the The Outline on YouTube.
