The first trailer for Sheen’s new movie is now out in Japan, and it looks terrible.

Noted 9/11 truther Charlie Sheen is starring in 9/11, a film about five people trapped in a World Trade Center elevator during the 9/11 terrorist attacks, which is set to premiere on September 8. An English-language trailer for the movie hasn’t been released yet, but the Japanese trailer was released today.

In 2006, Sheen appeared on Alex Jones’ radio show to peddle his conspiracy theory that the towers were toppled by a “controlled demolition,” not by the planes that flew into them. “We're not the conspiracy theorists on this issue. It seems to me like 19 amateurs with box cutters taking over four commercial airlines and hitting 75 percent of their target — that feels like a conspiracy theory,” Sheen told Jones. Later that year, he went on the Jimmy Kimmel Live Show, where he said he had “done a lot of research” and the hijacker narrative “didn’t add up.”

9/11 is based on a play called Elevator by Patrick Carson, who has previously described his work as “fact-based.” Atlas Distributors, the film’s lead theatrical distributor in the U.S., is the same company that distributed the film adaptation of Ayn Rand’s Atlas Shrugged.

Whoopi Goldberg, who hasn’t made any public comments about 9/11 being an inside job, is also starring in the film. Its director, Martin Guigui, who co-wrote the film script, has made seven feature films, only one of which had even minor success — the 2004 film Swing, which netted $2,509 in box office sales — the New York Times reported last year.
